DEZCAL Descaling Powder, 900 g

Urnex Dezcal is the most effective descaling agent on the market for espresso machines, pod and capsule brewers, drip coffee makers, and electric kettles. Unlike conventional descalers, it contains oxygen‑based activators that break down mineral build‑up quickly and safely. Dezcal is 100 % biodegradable, non‑toxic, and formulated with additives that protect the metal components inside your machine.

Dosage: 56 g (about 2 oz) per 1 liter of lukewarm water.

Descaling an espresso machine

1. Dissolve the required amount of Dezcal in the machine’s water tank.

2. Stir, then cycle the solution through the brew group and steam wand.
   Run the pump for no more than 45 seconds at a time.

3. Rinse the tank, then run at least two full tanks of fresh water through the machine until the brew water no longer tastes acidic.

Tip: Dezcal also comes in 28 g sachets for single descaling cycles.

Important for heat‑exchange or dual‑boiler machines

Do not descale if the boilers lack a dedicated drain valve; residual solution can be difficult to flush completely from the steam boiler.

Cleaning portafilters

1. Remove the basket.

2. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of Dezcal per 1 liter of boiling water.

3. Soak portafilter and basket for 30 minutes.

4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and reassemble.

Powder clumping?

If the powder has compacted into a hard lump, tap the container firmly against a hard surface to loosen it. Performance and effectiveness are unaffected.
