Kifaru Coffee Estate is located on the southern slopes of Tanzania’s iconic Ngorongoro Crater and has been producing coffee since 1924. Spanning over 600 hectares of fertile volcanic soil at altitudes reaching 1,800 meters, the estate offers ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality Arabica coffee with depth and character.
Today, the farm is owned and managed by Christian Jebsen, who has spent the past decades transforming Kifaru into a modern, sustainable, and socially responsible estate – where craftsmanship, environmental care, and human dignity are deeply embedded in every decision.

Kifaru Estate is Rainforest Alliance certified, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental preservation, ethical labor conditions, and long-term responsibility throughout the supply chain. The farm actively works to restore and protect biodiversity by establishing wildlife corridors and reforestation zones that integrate with surrounding ecosystems.
Water use and soil health are carefully managed, and all coffee is dried on traditional raised African beds – a low-energy method that safeguards both bean quality and the environment. The farm’s goal isn’t just to grow coffee, but to do so in a way that regenerates and protects the natural foundation for generations to come.

Deep local engagement
Social responsibility is an integral part of Kifaru’s identity. Through the Kifaru Education Fund, the estate invests in education and development for the surrounding community. Initiatives include the construction of a kindergarten for workers’ children and ongoing support for local schools with materials and infrastructure improvements.
The farm provides stable employment with fair wages and decent working conditions – a vital contrast in a region where seasonal work is often the norm. Here, workers are not just part of the operation – they are part of the mission.

Kifaru coffee is known for its clean, complex flavor profile – often showcasing notes of dark chocolate, red grapefruit, and a well-balanced acidity. The beans are carefully handpicked, washed, and sun-dried to ensure the highest possible quality in every cup.
